Ms. Lisa's specialty

Louisiana Gumbo

A dark, velvety roux simmered slow and loaded with andouille, chicken, and Gulf shrimp. One bowl and you're on Bourbon Street.

Gumbo is the crown jewel of Louisiana cooking — and at Ms. Lisa's, we treat it that way. Every batch starts with a dark roux cooked low and slow until it reaches that perfect chocolate-brown color. That's where the deep, nutty backbone of flavor comes from, and it's what separates real gumbo from everything else.

We load ours with smoky andouille sausage, tender pulled chicken, and Gulf shrimp, then stir in the holy trinity of onion, bell pepper, and celery. Okra or filé thickens the pot just right. Served over rice with a side of warm cornbread, it's a meal that sticks to your ribs and warms your soul — especially on a cold New England evening.

Our gumbo is made in small batches and sells out fast. Place a pickup order online to reserve your bowl, or grab a quart to take home for the family. Once you taste Ms. Lisa's gumbo, you'll understand why regulars call it the best on the South Coast.
